Bonded Stock Logic

Store now. Pay duty later.

Our WMS gives you wet bonded warehousing without the spreadsheets. Flag alcohol products once, calculate duty automatically, and produce HMRC-ready reports (so you keep cash in the business and move faster with confidence).

Defer duty.

Report with proof.

Calculate precisely.

The old way vs Clarus.

Spreadsheets got you here. They won't get you further.

Before

Duty was paid early, tying up capital before goods even left bond

Duty was calculated by hand, risking over- or under-payment

Movements were logged in scattered records, hard to trace back

HMRC reports took days to pull together from separate systems

After

Duty stays deferred until goods leave bond, cash planning stays predictable

Duty rates per product compute liability automatically at movement

Every movement timestamped with user and location, ready for audit

Weekly HMRC reports compile in one run, minutes not days

How it works.

Start seeing results straight away.

Panel showing a recorded movement for sku mlt-0087, 24 x 700ml, with the spirits duty rate of £28. 74 per litre of pure alcohol automatically applied and the liability computed.

Deferred duty payments.

Keep capital in the business until goods leave bond or duty becomes payable. Clarus tracks status from receipt to dispatch and shows exactly what will crystallise and when, so cash planning is calm and predictable.

Weekly hmrc report for week 33 showing 312 units across 3 tax types compiled into a £19,240 payable amount.

Exact duty calculation.

Avoid over- or under-payments. Duty rates and tax types are stored per alcohol product; the correct liability is computed automatically at the point of movement, then rolled into weekly summaries.

Bond status panel for lot bnd-2207 showing £4,860 held in bond, which crystallises on dispatch.

Record-keeping made simple.

All movements are timestamped with user and location. Weekly HMRC reports compile dispatched items, tax types, and payable amounts in a single run (minutes, not days).

Audit trail panel spanning receiving, storage, and shipping showing hmrc-ready exports already in place, with direct hmrc integration marked as a roadmap item.

One platform, end-to-end.

Bonded logic lives inside the WMS, so auditability spans receiving, storage, and shipping without stitching together third-party tools. Future roadmap includes direct HMRC integration; today you export HMRC-ready outputs for submission.

Why bonded should feel simple. Work smarter.

Wet bonded operations often devolve into complex spreadsheets and late-night reconciliations. Clarus replaces that with governed data and automation. You record whether duty is paid at receipt. The system tracks liability through to despatch, applies the correct duty calculation per product, and prepares weekly HMRC outputs (so finance, operations, and compliance work from the same truth).

QUESTIONS BUYERS ACTUALLY ASK.

Frequently asked questions

Does Clarus file directly to HMRC?

Today, Clarus produces HMRC-ready weekly duty outputs you can submit. Direct HMRC integration is on the roadmap; we’ll align with the authority’s interfaces when available.

Can we mix bonded and duty-paid stock for the same SKU?

Yes. Status is tracked per receipt/lot/pallet. The system prevents invalid movements and applies duty logic only when payable, keeping mixed flows compliant.

How are duty rates maintained?

Duty attributes live on the product record. When rates or tax types change, update once and new calculations apply immediately; historic movements retain their original logic.

What evidence is available for audits?

Every movement is timestamped with user, device, quantity, location, and decision context (in bond vs duty-paid). Weekly reports itemise payable duty by product and tax type.

Do you support dry bonded goods?

Dry-bonded capability is on our development roadmap. Today’s feature set focuses on wet bonded (alcohol) with full duty tracking and reporting.

Will this slow down dispatch?

No. Duty checks and calculations run in the flow of work. Operators follow scanner prompts; finance runs the weekly export; compliance gets the audit trail (without adding steps at the bench).
